What happens to this self-fueling nuclear reactor when Water comes into the picture? In the classical 5-Elements Bazi, when Fire meets Water, ‘something’ comes to an abrupt stop. Basically, the ‘something’ stopped because an explosion happened! In today’s world, this explosion aptly describes the fluctuating uncertainties of the post-Covid marketplace.
Therefore, getting the most of a 7 Killings year requires some preparation. The 7 Killings year can be a double-edged sword. If you had prepared for it, if you have had strategies in place to take advantage of the so-called explosion, this might very well be your best year yet! In other words, you must be in the game to reap the rewards.
Becoming a bystander is not going to work well here. If all you have ever done was dread the coming of a 7 Killings year, then you leave the ‘explosion’ to random chance.
In fact, the traditional ‘Useful God’ to quell a 7 Killings year is the Eating God. By deploying your Useful God, you need to have literally two strategies in place. Plan A above describes when all the elements are balanced and are in a co-producing relationship. However, note that the Ren Yin pillar itself is not the most stable of pillars. Within this single pillar, from the perspective of the Bing Fire Day Master, your Ren Water (壬) 7 Killings star clashes with your Bing Fire (丙) Friend star while your Jia Wood (甲) Indirect Resource clashes with the Wu Earth (戊) Eating God. The picture hasn’t changed. The Ren Yin is what it is. But now, the perspective changes. Again, think of a lake. Its waters still and calm, reflecting the rays of the sunrise. In the distance, stand folds upon folds of mountain ranges. A clump of graceful trees stand at the border of the lake. Under their benevolent shade, a riot of lotuses thrive on the lake, their pretty pastel colours glistening in the morning sun.
Imagine you are one of these lotuses and the lake of water is where you grow, it’s where you draw your resource. Unlike the Jia Wood Day Master, you now see Direct Resource on the Heavenly Stems. What does that mean? 2022 is the time to deepen your knowledge base. In other words, it’s time to become a subject matter expert.
That is basically the difference between the two Resource stars. Indirect Resource is curiosity, learning a little bit of everything. Direct Resource is intellectual curiosity, diving deep into one particular subject.

2022 JIA WOOD SEES INDIRECT RESOURCE ON THE HEAVENLY STEMS
Think of a lake. Its waters still and calm, reflecting the rays of the sunrise. In the distance, stand folds upon folds of mountain ranges. A clump of graceful willow trees stand at the border of the lake. Imagine you are one of those trees.
Drop a twig into the still water. See how the water ripples every outwards? Now think of that lake of water as your resource. The outward ripples are trying to tell you something – 2022 is the time to expand your knowledge base.
Indirect Resource is curiosity personified. When it shows up on the Heavenly Stems, it is an opportunity for the taking. It’s within reach, like a low-hanging fruit. To make use of this energy, it’s time to learn some complementary knowledge around your core competencies.
Let’s give an example. Perhaps you are an accountant. Complementary knowledge could include learning to manage databases. Or perhaps you are a content creator. In this case, complementary knowledge could mean learning some measure of SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

There is nothing educational about this piece. I’m just sharing my experience from a recent road trip to Kek Look Tong so that I could speak with ‘Kai Mah’ aka Godmother. Therefore, this piece will be filed under the category of ‘Useless Information’.
But first, some background
My Chinese Metaphysics journey actually began with learning Qi Men Dun Jia. But at that time, perhaps because the timing wasn’t right, but I found QMDJ difficult to practice. So I turned to Bazi. Voila! The pictorial form of Bazi suited this visual thinker right down to her saggy socks.
But all this while, I’ve always had a hankering to pay my respects at the altar of the Lady of the 9 Heavens. After all, legends have it that she was the one who bequeathed this knowledge to mankind. So I figured, every practitioner should at least go and say thank you once!
In 2020, I found out that there was such an altar about 3 hours drive away. And then Covid hit. Lockdown after lockdown derailed the plans. But finally, in November 2021, we made it happen.
Finally… Kek Look Tong
This… is Kek Look Tong Buddhist Temple in Ipoh, Perak. It’s a temple carved into a natural limestone cave that must be millennia old. Step into the cave and immediately, a sense of calm descends. The Qi inside the cave is amazingly powerful.
Upstairs is the altar dedicated to the Lady of the 9 Heavens. Look at her… isn’t she gorgeous? (I mean, the picture of the goddess on the right, not the idiot wearing a mask on the left!) Now I say ‘her’, but in reality, this is but a form of energy and by right gender does not apply. However, Taoist and Buddhist beliefs will tend to give energy a human form. It’s easier for us to connect.
I’m not sure what happened. But seated in front of the altar, this Wealth structure person managed to release… to let go.
Of course, I went armed with a long list of ‘I want, I want, I want…’. Not a single ‘want’ was uttered while I sat there for an hour. Instead, I found myself letting go. Do you know how hard it is for a Wealth structure person to ‘let go’?
“I don’t know,” I said to her. “I’ve done all I can. Now you tell me. You show me. Show me in baby steps, what I need to do next.”
Yes, inside that cave, I experienced ‘zen-ness’ for the first time.
When I got back to the city, things started falling into place. Suddenly, the journey ahead became smoother. I no longer needed to shift heaven and earth just to get the results I wanted.
I’m not sure how to end this deeply personal piece. I’m just sharing my experience. The journey has not ended, after all. It’s only just begun. But that day, in that cave, I learnt a powerful lesson about letting go.

1. GRAND DUKE COMBINATION
If you recall that I had described the Clash/Year Breaker for the Monkey, the 2022 Year of the Water Tiger brings a Combination to the Pig. This is called the Grand Duke Combination. Easily explained? You become the boss’s best friend!
The Grand Duke Combination specifically denotes wealth opportunities from business partnerships. How to activate this? You need to be visible, of course! You need to be talking to people! And most of all, you must learn the art of negotiating! If partnerships are the order of the day, then we must ensure that you get the best deal possible.
2. THRIVING
The Thriving star represents wealth opportunity from your friends. With this star in your sector, you must ensure that you stay in contact with friends new and old. 2022 is the year for you to seize opportunities and responsibilities.
3. ROBBERY SHA
As you re-activate your contacts or make new friends, some spendings will be natural. Of course, meeting up for dinner and drinks cost money! That’s what the Robbery Sha means – the possibility of losing money because of friends. But hey! How do you ensure you don’t lose too much? Learn to filter the invitations! You don’t need to accept every single one! And yes, we’re back to the key theme of 2022 for the Pig – learn to negotiate.
4. HEAVENLY VIRTUE + FORTUNE VIRTUE
But no worries, the Heavenly Virtue and the Fortune Virtue comes to the Pig in 2022. With these two stars, the happy-go-lucky Pig becomes luckier! They are basically stars of blessings. With the Heavenly Virtue, obstacles in your way are removed, and you basically get lucky! The Fortune Virtue, on the other hand, enhances the effects of the other wealth stars.
5. PROSPERITY
The Prosperity star is also a blessings star. As its name denotes, it ushers in prosperity! Again, to use this star, you need to get yourself out there and networking. While everything is looking great so far, there is a small tenuous link to the negative stars. To sidestep the following negative elements, there are only two things to keep in mind. Firstly, don’t get big-headed and secondly, train yourself to quickly evaluate options!
6. GOAT BLADE
When things are going well, it’s natural for us to become impatient for more. This is the warning of the Goat Blade. You may find yourself feeling stubborn and intractable. Like the world is filled with idiots! Watch out! This is the time to re-set your energy level back to the happy-go-lucky Pig that you know you can be. Chill!
7. CURLED TONGUE AND CROSSING SHA
I’m going to deal with the Curled Tongue and Crossing Sha together. Both indicates problems with your relationship with others. In the case of the Curled Tongue, it basically indicates arguments brought about by petty gossip.
The Crossing Sha can be a bit more serious as it could possibly (and I stress, possibly) denote legal problems. So with the Crossing Sha hanging about, train yourself to be more precise and decisive.
8. DRAPES
Drapes is a star that could potentially cause emotional issues. If we look at the negative stars in sequence, if you are feeling intractable and irascible (Goat Blade), you end up having arguments with people (Curled Tongue and Crossing Sha), and then you feel depressed.
“Nobody understands me!” you wail.
These emotional stars are for us to manage. If we are conscious of our actions and we understand that we control our emotions instead of the other way around, there is no reason why these negative stars should trip us up.
9. CASCADING CLOUD
Final warning! If we allow our emotions to get the best of us, not only could you lose the effects of the positive stars, there is the Cascading Cloud which puts us in a fog of anger and revenge. The effects of the Cascading Cloud is like being lost in the fog. You lose sense of direction. It’s not a pleasant feeling.

A RECAP OF THE ROOSTER IN 2021
The Rooster enjoyed a wealth of positive stars in 2021. You had Wealth Stars aplenty (Golden Lock and Duke Reward), problem-solving stars (Relief God and Sky Relief), and authority stars in the form of the General Star and the Eight Seats.
I’m going to dwell a little on the General Star, in particular. As mentioned, this star conveys authority and status. It also came with the expectations of others for you to assume the leadership role. Given these positive stars, 2021 must have been a very exciting and rewarding year for the Rooster.
But what about 2022?
THE ROOSTER IN 2022
1. EMPEROR STAR
You must have gotten used to wielding authority by now! Because after the General Star in 2021, comes the Emperor Star in 2022! Again, this is yet another authority booster which comes with an added bonus, the ability to dissipate most of the negative stars.
Let’s think about authority for a minute. It’s not about bossing people around. Rather, this nobleman star requires you to serve. A great leader serves his or her public. People follow you because of your ability to serve their needs. So using the Emperor Star is to take on the willingness to serve.
2. DRAGON VIRTUE
The Dragon Virtue can be considered as a nobleman star as well as a star of blessings. This foretells a smooth journey ahead in 2022, with plenty of help and support to help you in your endeavors. Its presence is telling you to be brave. Carry on with your plans and your journey. Help is at hand when you need it.
3. HEAVENLY CHEF
Along with two powerful nobleman stars come the Heavenly Chef which you share with the Tiger in 2022. This is a star of good food and happy occasions. When people gather together, usually there is always good food on the table. Therefore, this can be considered as a networking star. Used wisely, by meeting and connecting with more people, you gain the opportunity to grow your tribe and meet with noble people along the way.
4. BRUTAL DEFEAT

6. BATH
The last thing we want to do is to feel helpless in the face of these runaway rumors. If not addressed quickly, you may feel like you have been victimized by your detractors. This is the feeling that the Bath star conveys. Think of a newborn babe being bathed for the first time. You have no control, and you are being manipulated by others.
But since you are obviously not a newborn babe, the presence of the Bath star is an indication of the need for better emotional management. Remember! If we are easily offended, then we are easily manipulated.
7. DARK SKY
Last, but not least, please make sure that you don’t neglect your health. The Dark Sky suggests low immunity and may make you vulnerable to a virus attack.
