Come 2023, the Goat is really the G.O.A.T – Greatest of all time – especially for the career professionals. And to really use the positive stars? Group collaboration (not partnership!) will be the key!
ABOUT THE 2023 CHINESE ZODIAC SERIES
In creating this new series, I’ve endeavoured to shift your perspectives of the positive and negative stars. They are neither promises nor guarantees. Instead, these are tools given to you for 2023, and it’s up to you to choose which one works better for you. The results become more obvious when we match our actions to the effects.
And when we learn to use these stars, that is when life happens for you, instead of happening to you.
Therefore, this post will include descriptions of the effects of the stars, followed by some ideas (or suggestions, if you will), on how the stars can be used. Please note that critical thinking is required on your part. Because without looking at the full information from your unique Bazi Chart, the ideas cannot be customized and must be kept as broad as possible.
GOAT: 2022 RECAP
Of the positive stars in 2022, the National Treasure would have a little more weightage as it signifies the opportunity to be recognized as a talent in our respective fields. There was also the Sky Happiness which represented networking opportunities. But let’s be honest here, how many of us really enjoy networking?
But networking or no… somehow, your contribution has been recognized. Who knows? Maybe you even won an award? People are now aware of your capabilities. So what next?
THE GOAT IN 2023
THREE STAGES
2023 brings the ultimate of the promotion stars – the Three Stages. It’s akin to步步高陞 (literal translation: upward mobility with every step). The Three Stages may manifest as an offer to take on more responsibilities, or can represent the opportunity to contribute more. Either way we look at it, that’s what a promotion really is!
EIGHT SEATS
This promotion brought about by the Three Stages should ideally give access to the Eight Seats – access to be a part of the decision-makers. Put these two together, and it could either be the opportunity to join something like a Board of Directors, or a top management team, or in some really large organizations, a think-tank that reports solely to the President to help him or her with the decision-making process.
But please, do not assume this promotion or invitation comes automatically. Some action on your part is required. At the very minimum, there is a need to signal your readiness as well as an indication of what you bring to the table and what you offer.
FLYING BLADE
But what could disrupt the process? Well, there is always a possibility that your rise in the ranks may incur envy and gossip. This is the meaning of the Flying Blade. Rumours and gossip swirling around you. These gossips need not be about us. The Flying Blade represents a caution to not launch the first blade, to not get involved with the gossips and rumours.
FIVE GHOST
The more serious, would be the Five Ghost which represents suspicion and fear. This would be a natural outcome of the Flying Blade. Suddenly, people you thought were your friends are now saying mean things about you. It makes one distrustful, or even worse if it causes a loss of self confidence.
YELLOW FLAG
Focus on the work at hand. The influence of the Yellow Flag causes anxiety and depression. Who wouldn’t be anxious if constantly surrounded by ‘flying blades’? If you find yourself in a toxic environment, you may want to consider documenting everything. Had a conversation with someone? Follow up with an email to ensure that all parties are on the same page. This is a self protective measure to avoid becoming a scapegoat for the Flying Blade.
BLOOD KNIFE
The Blood Knife is more health-related, and typically points at the possibility of bloodshed such as perhaps a minor surgery. But note that it just points to a possibility. If you are careful while handling knives and sharp objects, or when you are driving, then who’s to say it has to happen?
RELIEF GOD AND SKY RELIEF
But now comes the all-important question. On the one hand, we have an opportunity for a promotion. Yet on the other hand, we are faced with naysayers and detractors. So it seems we will need some external support. This comes in the form of two problem-solving stars – the Relief God and Sky Relief.
To activate both the problem solving stars require the appropriate action to complement their effects. In other words, keep your attention tightly on solving the underlying problems instead of getting enmeshed in the politics.
ELEGANT SEAL
The Elegant Seal is a powerful star that influences our creativity and ability to think out of the box. It’s the star of the artiste and levels up our strategizing capabilities. It also represents the intellectual capacity to master a new skill, an ultimate skill, that would take your career or business to the next level. To use this star effectively requires concerted effort to upskill or to focus your attention at the strategic level.
INSTABILITY
With the two problem-solving stars supported by the Elegant Seal, what types of problems could we possibly be asked to solve? The Instability star holds a clue! As its name implies, Instability brings volatility. It could be volatile economic problems. It could also be fluctuating sales cycles? Any one who can solve these problems in any organization, would absolutely deserve to be a part of the management team.
LITIGATION AND YEAR CHARM
Alternatively, you could be called to resolve problems relating to documentation, compliance or customer satisfaction. This is signified by the presence of Litigation and Year Charm, both of whom imply legal issues resulting from disputes.
FLYING CHARM
The Flying Charm is also of a legal nature. In this case, it denotes penalties and fines. Therefore, please be reminded to keep your documentation in proper order and ensure that everything is above board. On a personal level, with the Flying Charm coming into the Goat in 2023, it is imperative to keep our tax returns properly filed.
THE GOAT 2023 IN A NUTSHELL
For the Goat, 2023 is a year to level up! Get that ultimate skill. Log into problem-solving mode! Have faith in yourself. Be open to working with the decision-makers and focus on contributing value. As for the naysayers represented by the Flying Blade? Ignore!
WHERE IS YOUR GOAT?
YEAR PILLAR
If the Goat is in your Year, you may have the opportunity to meet with two types of people in 2023. One group radiates optimism, while the other is petty, quarrelsome, and mean-spirited. Choose your friends wisely.
This can also mean that, within your industry or community at large, an opportunity has opened up where you can have a voice in how the industry or community is run! This applies for both the career professional as well as the business owners. For example, is the industry’s growth hampered because the key players are constantly trying to undercut or undermine each other? Do you foresee any problems caused by this situation? Do you have an idea on how you can resolve or sidestep these issues?
MONTH PILLAR
If the Goat is in your Month Pillar which governs your career and business, these stars can amp up your level of ambitions. Suddenly, the Goat feels extra ambitious in 2023 – willing to take the pain of acquiring that ultimate skill, willing to put in the extra hours to attend meetings and resolve problems.
For the career professionals, this would be the best time to volunteer to lead a special project at work. This is best applied if you work for a large multi-national organization where you collaborate with colleagues from other divisions or countries.
For the business owners, create opportunities where you can either cross-sell or collaborate with a bigger brand. Or, you could position yourself to be an advisor perhaps for another organization.
DAY PILLAR
What if you have the Goat in your Day Pillar? If you are married, from your perspective, you feel that your spouse has been given a lot of career opportunities in 2023. If that’s the case, your role would be to encourage, uplift, inspire and motivate your spouse to make the most of these opportunities. Will there be fights? Maybe! Especially if the level of ambition is one-sided.
What if you want to use these stars for yourself? Many charitable organizations are helmed by people of influence. If you choose the charity wisely and volunteer to become a committee member of certain charity boards, you can access plenty of decision makers. So you could consider picking a cause that is close to your heart and volunteer your time and expertise. As you give, so you receive.
HOUR PILLAR
For the Managers and Business Owners, if you have the Goat in your Hour pillar, then someone among your staff, is ready to be groomed for a bigger role. Therefore, succession planning may be a good way to use these stars. Of course, that person must display the right aptitude and attitude. It’s an opportunity to revitalize your business by adding in the opinions of the younger generation. As for the negative stars, be aware that you may face an uptick in petty bickering, claims of nepotism and favouritism.
