ABOUT THE 2023 CHINESE ZODIAC SERIES
In creating this new series, I’ve endeavoured to shift your perspectives of the positive and negative stars. They are neither promises nor guarantees. Instead, these are tools given to you for 2023, and it’s up to you to choose which one works better for you. The results become more obvious when we match our actions to the effects.
And when we learn to use these stars, that is when life happens for you, instead of happening to you.
Therefore, this post will include descriptions of the effects of the stars, followed by some ideas (or suggestions, if you will), on how the stars can be used. Please note that critical thinking is required on your part. Because without looking at the full information from your unique Bazi Chart, the ideas cannot be customized and must be kept as broad as possible.
THE RAT IN 2023
2022, as far as the Rat was concerned, was a year of self-cultivation. It was a year for us to create our own opportunities. Because there were no external support or external opportunities. This load of negative stars were here to teach us that we are not helpless. They were here to show us how to shift our perspectives and create opportunities even when there were none.
So the Rat is the undisputed comeback kid of 2023. With a smorgasbord of positive stars littered with words we like to read – Prosperity, Fortune Virtue, and many more! But before we get there, we must have successfully changed our perspectives.
DRAPES, CURLED TONGUE AND CROSSING SHA
Drapes talk about emotional instability. If you are emotionally vulnerable, it could be a concern. Curled Tongue and Crossing Sha are miscommunications and potential for arguments.
If you are the type who tends to intellectualize your emotions, I doubt you would even feel the presence of these three.
YEAR PUNISHMENT
However, it’s the Year Punishment, that with your permission, I would like to share a little more detail about.
When the Rat and the Rabbit meets, they form a type of punishment called the Uncivilized Punishment. This punishment conveys a feeling of being victimized.
In the traditional texts, the explanation for Uncivilized Punishment can be scary. It can manifest as assault, harassment, incest and even rumours and gossip of a carnal nature. Now before you start freaking out… it does not have to happen! I repeat: it does not have to happen! It’s just a warning of a potential threat. That’s all.
Some Masters would describe the Uncivilized Punishment as a problem caused by morality. But to me, Uncivilized Punishment is a problem about boundaries and power imbalance. After all, assault, particularly sexual assault, harassment, stalking, and incest… are at its most basics, a breach of personal boundaries. Somebody has overstepped their bounds. Now mind you, this could pan out both ways – the person who is suffering the Uncivilized Punishment could either be the victim OR the aggressor.
Since the Rat will be facing an Uncivilized Punishment in 2023, here are some suggestions:
- Let’s ensure that we keep all our dealings professional. Since this punishment can manifest in the form of rumours and gossip, and since we are all surrounded by spy cams everywhere these days, it would be in our favour to keep all our dealings professional. No improprieties. Not a whiff!
- Ladies would already know this. Most women already practice this. Be vigilant about personal safety. All those rules – you know, at a party, get your own drinks, don’t lose sight of our drinks, if walking late at night, try to stay to the populated areas. I’m not saying don’t party! Just make sure your safety precautions are in place.
- Since the Uncivilized Punishment conveys a sense of victimization, it is particularly important in 2023, for those with the Rat in our Bazi Charts to establish, communicate, and stand firm on the topic of our boundaries – particularly personal boundaries and personal space. Because, when we add all the negative stars together (Year Punishment, Drapes, Curled Tongue, and Crossing Sha), when we consolidate their effects into one, this can possibly spell Emotional Blackmail and Gaslighting.
But now that we’ve dealth with the punishment, it’s time to look forward to all the goodies that are coming to the Rat in 2023. So back to the positive stars!
HEAVENLY VIRTUE
The Heavenly Virtue is a blessings star. It helps dissolves the negative stars, and remove obstacles. To effectively use the Heavenly Virtue, requires us to install new beliefs.
Now that we’ve broken out of Prison, using the Heavenly Virtue calls for new goal-setting, and a re-alignment of our actions.
THRIVING
The Thriving star, simply, energizes! It gives us this extra boost of courage and energy. When we have this additional boost of courage and energy, we behave in a more confident manner, leading to potentially, wealth opportunities brought to you by your friends.
These two stars, the Heavenly Virtue and Thriving, are the jumping off point for a successful 2023.
FORTUNE VIRTUE AND PROSPERITY STAR
To enhance the effect of the Heavenly Virtue and Thriving Star, comes two more money stars. The Fortune Virtue brings wealth opportunities and enhances the effects of the other Wealth stars. How does it enhance? By working hand-in-hand with the Prosperity Star, it brings us many opportunities to enrich our network. Here comes the chance to build strong and mutually beneficial relationships.
So far, these four money stars do not say that we will suddenly get rich. How I wish! Right? What it says is that, the contacts we have may bring us opportunities. We need to be ready to say yes, take action, and nip problems in the bud, and the Heavenly Virtue will gift us with a relatively smooth year ahead.
RED MATCHMAKER, PEACH BLOSSOM AND SALTY POOL
Building relationships will be easy for the Rat in 2023. Our likability has zoomed up by 1000%! All these likability stars! The Red Matchmaker brings relationship luck. For those who are single and looking, pay attention. It brings this flash of recognition. Somehow, people just like you!
Same for the Peach Blossom! There is this aura of likability about you.
And finally, the Salty Pool! Personal desirability has increased. Typically, it points to fleeting romances, short and exciting flings. Things get exciting on the dating front.
RAT 2023: SUGGESTED CAREER CHECKLIST
On the career front, 2023 would be a good year to review your career goals and then, create alliances within your industry or organization to grow together.
For the negative stars, as always, this is an issue about boundaries. Not only should we communicate our boundaries to others, at the same time, please be mindful to respect other people’s boundaries as well.
We get this sorted, likability increases. Be sure to keep all your dealings professional.

For the Business Owners, these positive stars are a great opportunity to create new income streams for your business. Specifically, new projects brought to you by your contacts. These stars don’t really talk about partnerships. They talk about people giving you opportunities.
To deal with the negative stars? Filter your customer list. All business owners understand this. Some clients have got to go.
Alternatively, still on the negative stars, you could take this opportunity to ensure a safe and comfortable environment in your workspace. This would be a positive way to dissipate the effects of the negative stars.
And finally, with the likability stars, you need to take the lead in the sales pitch. People like you. They want to do business with you. Awesome!
