THE GARDEN OF LOVE

In this post, let’s head outside to explore the significance of the courtyard or the garden in Feng Shui.   In most houses, courtyards are rare. This refers to an external unroofed area within the house that is enclosed by surrounding walls. Typically, courtyards are only found in large mansions.

Gardens, on the other hand, are more common, easily found in most landed homes. In Feng Shui, the courtyard or the garden acts as an enhancer to pull the Qi into your home. In the case of landed homes or linked houses, the garden can literally be a part of your Bright Hall. Therefore, the garden or courtyard does play a role within the Feng Shui of your home.

Plants are considered Wood element activators, and are generally used either as enhancers or a natural screen against negative formations from the outside coming in.

Garden Logic #1: A garden full of flowers indicate Peach Blossom problems

Partially true. Allow me to explain. Flowers boost likability and is commonly used to enhance Peach Blossom luck. It is sometimes seen as a negative because problems related to the Peach Blossom typically manifest as the presence of third parties that could potentially disrupt the relationship in the home. Most Feng Shui practitioners will recommend a simple remedy by swapping the flower-bearing plants with just leafy plants.

This perspective stems from the assumption that we have zero willpower of our own. In today’s attention economy, likability plays a big factor in our success. If you are at all worried about Peach Blossom problems in your relationship, then by all means, don’t place flowering plants. On the other hand, if your business or career literally requires public support, a flowering garden in the right sector of your home can certainly help enhance your likability.

Garden Logic #2: Blockages in the drainage can cause health issues

True. The function of the drains is to carry dirty water out of our homes. Any blockages will inevitably result in stagnant Qi. It is best to ensure that our drains are constantly clear of rubbish and allow for the smooth exit of dirty water from your home.

Garden Logic #3: Open drains are a problem in Feng Shui

Partially true, but not for the reason you think it is. This is pure common sense. Uncovered drains pose a physical danger, which is why it is recommended to cover the drains outside your house.

Garden Logic #4: Man-made mountains, waterfall and bridges will help enhance my luck

Partially true. However, this can only be done if your home and Bright Hall is big enough. I’m talking mansions here, people! And it must be built correctly right down to the exact degree. If you want to do this, please engage the services of a professional Feng Shui practitioner. Otherwise, please, just don’t do it.

Garden Logic #5: Having a water feature in my garden will help enhance my luck

Yes, but… water features can only be installed if your garden is located in either the North, East, South East or South West sector of your home. Even then, the preference is for a pond is preferred to a fountain. The function of the water feature is to help collect the Qi. Fountains will create more disruptions and instability.

PERIOD 9: 2 THINGS EVERY BUSINESS NEEDS TO THRIVE

If You Do Nothing Else For Period 9, At Least Do This

A big shift is almost upon us as the Feng Shui Period 8 changes to Period 9. For Feng Shui practitioners, this is the time where they will be looking to make some changes to their home to align themselves to the Period 9 energies. But if that’s not possible for you, if you don’t plan to do nothing else for Period 9, at least make sure you fulfil the two suggestions I have in this post.

But First, A Little Backgrounder – What Is A Feng Shui Age?

I’m sure you must be thinking… what on earth is a Period 9? What are all the Metaphysics masters going on about?

Basically, a Feng Shui age lasts 180 years. It is sub-divided into 9 different periods – therefore, each Feng Shui period lasts 20 years.

Remember, the art and science of Chinese Metaphysics is all about different types of Qi or Energy patterns. Basically, every time Jupiter and Saturn moves into a straight line, that heralds the start of a new period. Remember the Grand Conjunction that happened in December 21, 2020? So basically, we’re all babbling about Period 9 because there is a big shift coming and we all need to be prepared.

What Were The Recent Feng Shui Periods?

Each Feng Shui Period comes with its own sets of characteristics, governed by a certain element and trigram which will create conditions that favour a certain demographics of people.

The following table lists the most recent Feng Shui periods:

PERIOD               YEARS                              ELEMENT              QUA                   DEMOGRAPHICS

Period 6             1964 to 1983                   Metal                  Qian Qua           Elder Male

Period 7             1984 to 2003                   Metal                  Dui Qua             Young Female

Period 8             2004 to 2023                   Earth                   Gen Qua            Young Male

Period 9             2024 to 2043                   Fire                     Li Qua                 Female

Changes to society are more easily tracked during periods when the trigram favours women. Don’t forget, we pretty much live in a patriarchy. For example, during the 80s and 90s, that was when women finally established their right to work outside of the home. As a result, today, when we look a woman’s chart for career and business, we read it exactly like a man’s chart.

A Little About Period 8

Before I jump right into Period 9, let me spend a short segment on Period 8. It is necessary, if nothing else, to show you the difference between the two energies and the reason why we say that there is a big shift coming.

The element of Period 8 was Earth. This was a time that favoured slow and steady growth, gradual build-up, step-by-step growth.

Period 8 was also governed by the Gen Qua which represented young males.During this time, we saw a lot of young male Rockstar entrepreneurs emerging – people like Elon Musk, Jack Ma, in metaphysics Dato Joey Yap and many more.

Now On To Period 9

So what about Period 9? Firstly, the element that governs Period 9 is Fire! Suddenly, we are going from slow-and-steady growth to warp-speed. Fire is fast! Fire is impermanent! We are about to fully enter into the Attention Economy driven by Technology.

The Qua that governs Period 9 is the Li Qua which represents the educated female.  You already see it happening – Kamala Harris, Jacinda Ardens, just to name two. In other words, expect to see more women coming into the spotlight.

The Two Things Every Business Need To Thrive In Period 9

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. If you do nothing else for Period 9, at least do these two things.

  1. The first is to have  A SOLID COMMUNICATIONS TEAM. We’re entering fully into the Attention Economy. Period 9 is gonna be a battle for eyeballs. This team must be fast, nimble, and able to react to trends. Forget perfection; speed is the essence. This team must be capable of effective copywriting and storytelling that supports your marketing strategy. Because the one who commands attention will command the market.
  • AUTOMATE! AUTOMATE! AUTOMATE! In Period 9, expect to see more technological advances from the fields of Virtual or Augmented Reality. But you don’t need to spend millions investing in those technologies. Instead, to thrive in Period 9, make sure you are taking full advantage of the many automation tools that are already available.

Whether it is automating the finance of your business, or automating the marketing process, these tools already exist to help you make the leap. The key here is to ensure that 80% of your time is spent working ON your business as opposed to working IN your business.

What If I’m Not A Business Owner?

These two suggestions still apply even if you are not a business owner. In fact, it becomes even more important. Because for non-business owners, the biggest challenge in Period 9 is to survive that digitalization and automation age. Therefore, you must possess one of the two skills in order to stay relevant within your organization.
