About me

12 DAY OFFICERS: DESTRUCTION DAY

Ms. Jia’s entrepreneurial journey has been relatively smooth sailing thus far. But an unforeseen obstacle lurks just around the corner. Just when everything seemed to be going well, a hurdle presents itself as Ms. Jia encounters issues with product delivery. Unfortunately, this setback coincides with a union workers’ strike. It’s a moment of frustration and concern as she tries to navigate this unforeseen obstacle. In this story, this unexpected challenge marks the Destruction Day phase of the process.

DESTRUCTION DAY

Of the 12 Day Officers, the energies of a Destruction Day is the most destructive (no puns intended). It’s the step in the process that brings unexpected problems and challenges, seemingly following Murphy’s Law: if something can go wrong, it will. However, it’s important to recognize that a Destruction Day phase serves a purpose. It symbolizes the final test before a breakthrough, the ultimate make-or-break moment. How you react to this critical juncture will determine whether you sink or swim.

WHAT ARE DESTRUCTION DAYS GOOD FOR?

Given its volatile energy, Destruction Days are not very auspicious for most action-taking activities. Instead, it tends to be more passive in nature that puts you in hyper-defensive mode. Typically, it is not advised for most activities apart from:

  1. Demolition works
  2. Dieting or ending certain bad habits
  3. Self reflection

WHAT ARE DESTRUCTION DAYS NOT SUITABLE FOR?

Destruction Days are not suitable for any and all major decisions and life events, including but not limited to:

  1. Getting married or engaged
  2. Launching a new business
  3. Embarking on a trip
  4. Signing contracts or legal agreements
  5. Resignations
  6. Ending a relationship

12 DAY OFFICERS AND THE 10 GODS

Usage of the 12 Day Officers become even more targeted if you can layer in the Bazi 10 Gods into the energy imprint. Yes, you will need some rudimentary Bazi knowledge. At the very least, you must know if a day is a Companion, Output, Wealth, Influence or Resource Day based on your Day Master.

Here are some suggestions for the Full Day and the 10 Gods:

DESTRUCTION DAY + COMPANION (Friend or Rob Wealth)

  1. Self-reflection
  2. Dig deep to find the strength to push through any obstacles
  3. Support others who are going through tough times

DESTRUCTION DAY + OUTPUT (Eating God or Hurting Officer)

  1. Push through your own creative blocks. Be very careful with your words on a Destruction Day as the blowback may be more than you expect.

DESTRUCTION DAY + WEALTH (Direct Wealth or Indirect Wealth)

None. A Destruction Day that represents energy attacking inwards, is not compatible with the outward push of a Wealth Day. Not recommended to use together.

DESTRUCTION DAY + INFLUENCE (Direct Officer or 7 Killings)

  1. Fire fighting
  2. Demolition works

DESTRUCTION DAY + RESOURCE (Direct Resource or Indirect Resource)

  1. Dieting, ending bad eating habits or any bad habits for that matter

About me

12 DAY OFFICERS: FULL DAY

Let’s dive back into Ms. Jia’s inspiring journey. With her ideas refined and focused, she determined that she needed to orchestrate a momentous gathering of potential investors to get her started on her new journey. Bringing together her contacts and potential investors, Ms. Jia hosted a captivating pow-wow where she presented her meticulously crafted business plans. In this phase of her journey, what Ms. Jia needs most is maximum attendance and attention. Enter the energies of the Full Day.

FULL DAY

In essence, Full Days are ideal when you are in the phase of needing to create events or activities that demand full attendance and undivided attention. As the name implies, the energies during Full Days reach their maximum potential. It’s a time when growth has reached its pinnacle, leaving little room for further expansion. Consequently, Full Days are seldom employed for activities that require ongoing development. However, if your aim is to captivate an audience with a one-time event or garner immediate attention, the energy of the Full Day is precisely what you need. Embrace the power of this concentrated energy to create impactful and unforgettable experiences.

WHAT ARE FULL DAYS GOOD FOR?

As mentioned, Full Days are good for any activities that require full attendance.

  1. Any sort of events where you want full attendance. This could be official opening, public launches, fund-raising events, concerts, parties or even house warming.
  2. Debt collection, as there is a high chance you receive payment in full
  3. Wrap up a project for delivery to the client

WHAT ARE FULL DAYS NOT SUITABLE FOR?

Full Days are not suitable or recommended for any activities that require future growth:

  1. Marriages. We want the marriage to progress and for the couple to grow in their life together, not stagnate at a point in time.
  2. Legal settlements due to the risk of being penalized in full!
  3. Starting a new job, as the day’s energy carries the risk of your career not growing within the company.
  4. Starting a new course of study. With your cup full, it’s hard to benefit from any courses if you were to start on this day.
  5. Brainstorming, coaching or mentoring. You will find yourself dealing with a lot of fixed mentality.

About me

12 DAY OFFICERS: REMOVE DAY

In Ms. Jia’s inspiring journey, we now find her transitioning to the Remove Day phase of her life transformation. After setting her intentions, our determined and visionary entrepreneur dives into action, meticulously evaluating her list of possibilities to identify the ideas that hold immediate practicality and promise.

REMOVE DAY

Remove Days are action-taking days. It represents a phase whereby you are removing the first obstacles in your success journey. It’s about eliminating any initial obstacles that could impede your budding endeavors.

To illustrate this, let’s consider the Establish Day as a brain-dump session, where ideas flow freely. On the Remove Day, it’s time to refine that list by systematically culling unnecessary elements and strategically prioritizing actions. It’s the moment when you step up and make decisive moves towards realizing your goals. Harness the energy of the Remove Day to clear the path ahead and propel your aspirations forward.

WHAT ARE REMOVE DAYS GOOD FOR?

As its name suggests, the Remove Day is for activities related to removing ‘something’. Here are some ideas:

  1. Any sort of cleansing activities. Externally, this would be represented by removing clutter or spring cleaning. Internally, this could be about removing internal self-limiting beliefs or consciously getting rid of old mental baggage.
  2. Ending a strained or abusive relationship.
  3. Start a new diet, because the intention here is to remove the fat.
  4. Medical procedures to ‘remove’ something
  5. Any sort of demolition or repair works

WHAT ARE REMOVE DAYS NOT SUITABLE FOR?

Due to the day’s energy that supports the ‘removal’ of problems or obstacles, Remove Days are generally not recommended for marriages, adoptions, official openings, starting a new job or travel.

Here are some suggestions for the Remove Day and the 10 Gods:

REMOVE DAY + COMPANION (Friend or Rob Wealth)

  1. Dating, specifically proposing to go ‘steady’. Because you are hereby ‘removing’ the other suitors from your potential partner’s life.
  2. Removing or ending toxic relationships that no longer serve you
  3. Removing or clearing any misunderstandings in a relationship

REMOVE DAY + OUTPUT (Eating God or Hurting Officer)

  1. Address common misconceptions about your product or service
  2. Handling client objections or queries
  3. Launching guerrilla marketing activities
  4. Addressing or overcoming creative blockages like writer’s block

REMOVE DAY + WEALTH (Direct Wealth or Indirect Wealth)

  1. Financial decluttering such as reviewing expenses, trimming down on subscriptions, renegotiating contracts, consolidating debts.
  2. Goal-oriented budgeting to analyze budgets, eliminate non-essential expenses and allocation of resources.
  3. Taking decisive action towards removing obstacles blocking your financial growth
  4. Abundance mindset cultivation to let go of scarcity beliefs and instil abundance.

REMOVE DAY + INFLUENCE (Direct Officer or 7 Killings)

  1. Resignation or to disengage from something.
  2. De-cluttering and spring cleaning your home, your office, work desk, or even your desktop.
  3. Identify and eliminate obstacles in your business operations by removing inefficiencies.
  4. Fine-tuning your sales funnels

  3. Ending a coaching, teaching or mentoring relationship, essentially letting go of support.

About me

12 DAY OFFICERS: ESTABLISH DAY

The easiest way to use the Tong Shu is the 12 Day Officers. In fact, this is usually the first layer of qualifier used to determine the activities suited for the day’s energy. Each of the 12 Day Officers has its own energy imprint. More specifically, the 12 Day Officers represents phases of someone’s success journey. Together, they tell a very realistic story of the ups and downs we naturally face as we progress towards our goal.

In this new 12-part series, let me illustrate the phases of the 12 Day Officers through a 12-part story.

MEET MS. JIA

Picture Ms. Jia, your typical hardworking corporate executive, pushing through the daily grind with lagging spirits and drooping eyelids. Deep within her, a nagging thought persists – she’s destined for something greater. If only she had the resources to make it happen. After months of to-ing and fro-ing, Ms. Jia’s resolve reaches its tipping point. Enough is enough! It’s time to take action! Ms. Jia has landed squarely in Establish Day territory.

ESTABLISH DAY

The Establish Day phase is not really an action-taking energy. Instead, it’s exploratory by nature. It encourages us to probe, to set intentions, and to declare our desires.

Truth to tell, it’s a rather wishy-washy kind of energy. Think of the Establish Day like our annual New Year Resolutions. How many of them do we fulfil? Or are the good resolutions forgotten within a week?

WHAT ARE ESTABLISH DAYS GOOD FOR?

Nothing is being done on an Establish Day. Since it is a day suited for a statement of intent, here are some activities suited for the day:

  1. Getting engaged or offering a marriage proposal. In the Malaysian culture (or the Malay culture to be more specific), there is a step in their marriage journey called ‘menilik’. Literally translated, it means to evaluate. The two families come together to discuss the possibility of a marriage happening.
  2. Going on a first date. A first date is exploratory in nature. Two people meeting up to test and probe the possibilities of establishing a relationship! Very much an Establish Day energy.
  3. Starting a new job or new school term. An Establish Day may be wishy-washy, but when you start a new job or a new school, having multiple options for growth is highly beneficial.
  4. Sending out resumes. The purpose of sending out resumes is exactly what the Establish Day is built for.  To explore the possibilities of working with various companies.
  5. Exploratory business transactions or first pitches. An Establish Day is great for first meetings between two business entities. If the discussion at hand is to explore working together, it would fit the energies of an Establish Day.
  6. A/B testing or any sort of testing for that matter. Establish Day energies is great to conduct market responsive tests for your next marketing campaign.
  7. Seeking medical diagnosis and testing. Establish Day energies are good for medical-related activities where you feel ‘off’ but you don’t know what exactly is wrong. It’s for exploratory diagnosis.

WHAT ARE ESTABLISH DAYS NOT SUITABLE FOR?

Again, due to the noncommittal imprint of the day’s energy, Establish Days are not recommended for funerals and signing of contracts or agreements.

Here are some suggestions for the Establish Day and the 10 Gods:

ESTABLISH DAY + COMPANION (Friend or Rob Wealth)

  1. First dates
  2. Productive networking and relationship-building
  3. Any collaborative initiatives

ESTABLISH DAY + OUTPUT (Eating God or Hurting Officer)

  1. Intention setting, because Establish Day is a day to say “I want to…”
  2. Test marketing or A/B Testing. Basically, trying out innovative ideas

ESTABLISH DAY + WEALTH (Direct Wealth or Indirect Wealth)

  1. Sending resumes

THE THING ABOUT THE BRIGHT HALL

You may have heard Feng Shui practitioners talking about the importance of the Bright Hall. A Bright Hall is literally the space immediately outside and inside our front doors. Each home will have two Bright Halls. An external Bright Hall directly outside your front door, an internal Bright Hall which is the entryway into your home.

As Qi flows into your home through the front door, the Bright Hall is the first point of contact. This is where the Qi collects before it is distributed around the home.

Psychologically, the entryway is also the first place we step into as we enter our homes. That very act of pausing a moment to remove our shoes carries a feeling that the day is done, and we are safe home again, doesn’t it?

Given the psychological impact that the Bright Hall has on our moods as we get home, this is quite a significant area from both a Feng Shui and psychological perspective.

Entryway Logic #1: The entryway should be kept clear of clutter

Absolutely! The entryway is where Qi collects as it comes through the front door. Clutter in this area will inevitably result in stagnant Qi that is unable to flow properly into the rest of your home.

Keeping your shoes and socks neatly in the shoe cabinet is also recommended. Imagine the Qi entering your home carrying the scent of smelly shoes and socks that are tumbled in a heap around your front door!

This is why it is so very important to keep your entryway bright, clean, and clear of clutter. And as for the psychological impact, imagine going home and the first thing you see when you open the door is clutter. How relaxing is that?

Entryway Logic #2: Mirrors at the entryway is bad

Some people believe that mirrors at the entryway brings bad luck. In the practice of Feng Shui, the mirror has no impact. If you enjoy admiring your own reflection as you walk in and out of the house, a mirror at the entryway does not carry any Feng Shui significance.

Entryway Logic #3: The entryway is able to block or diffuse any negative external Sha

In my previous column, I explained that we should always try to avoid negative Sha such as Poison Arrows, Cutting Knife or Building Sha pointing directly into your front door. There is a common belief that the entryway is able to diffuse the negative energy coming in.

This, in fact, is partially correct. It depends on the type of Sha coming into the front door. The entryway may be able to disperse negative Sha caused by smaller Poison Arrows. These would include the edges of walls pointing into your front door (known as the Wall Sha), as well as sharp edges of road signs and perhaps even electrical poles.

However, it would be ineffective against large blockages such as the edge of an entire building right outside your front door (known as a Building Sha) or a large electrical pylon. These large negative formations will affect your entire house, and the entryway will not be effective in nullifying their effects.

Entryway Logic #4: Building a wall or a divider at the end of the entryway will block out any negative Sha

Again, partially true. Effective for smaller negative formations, but impotent against larger and stronger energies caused by the edge of a building pointing straight into your front door.

Please note, however, that in order to be considered a wall, the divider must literally be a solid floor-to-ceiling wall. From a practicality point of view, how feasible would this be in most modern-day homes?

Entryway Logic #5: No exposed beams please!

True. In fact, most Feng Shui practitioners are probably allergic to the presence of exposed beams inside the house. Yes, we know they can look nice. But the presence of these beams disrupts the flow of Qi in the house, causing unnecessary internal negative Qi or Sha Qi. At the end of the day, the goal of Feng Shui is to ensure that energy moves through the home in a smooth and uninterrupted manner. Exposed beams are an anathema in Feng Shui.
